Lakis Argyrou’s book – an autobiography – contains what, even in half the quantity, would be enough to inspire people who start from low tones to sing high notes, like himself. It’s a book that contains everything, if everything is the humanity of readers with an unselfish and benevolent attitude toward life and others, even the ulterior and malevolent ones.
The “as you feel” writing is in this and other books of teenage scrapbook and diary writing, which do not lose their value. Those who, like L. Argyrou, manage later in life to write like this are useful people. They remind, for those who want to remember, the importance of a free and happy – not necessarily successful – life.
All the books are judged by a serious criterion – a legitimate fear for any writer: What would be lost if the book didn’t exist? If the author – first – cannot answer the question, then the “print” must be delayed. This book was ripe, ready to be published, like the always welcome evening agri in the glowing Nicosia in summer.
It will cool many who are on fire.
It will vindicate many who are unjustly …
A capstone!
