Her motionless blue eyes sometimes hid behind the fiery blonde curls of her fringe that she pushed back with the back of her right hand, sometimes they sparkled with joy as she faced us smiling.
She had the same eye color as her father. She was not black or tawny after the Greek pattern: her whole form had that pale light which we often meet in many parts of the Evros beyond the shores, which always made her stand out.
As soon as she saw us, the kids, she would invite us to sit next to her and began to tell the endless stories of her adventurous life, as you will learn from her through the pages of her book.
This was “Annoula” whose dream was to become a “teacher”, like her godmother and aunt Maria, because she really wanted to help and offer to everyone.
This was and remained for all of us our Annoula!
