For authors

Your book deserves readers in other languages.

Self-published, or holding your own translation rights? We help you present your book to foreign publishers, step by step, in plain language.

First things first

Can you sell your book’s translation rights?

Only the person who holds the rights can sell them. Find your case:

✓

You self-published

The rights are yours. You can submit your book straight away.

✓

Your contract keeps them with you

Some contracts leave foreign rights with the author. Check yours, then submit.

?

Your publisher holds them

Ask your publisher to work with us, or for written permission to proceed.

?

You are not sure

Submit anyway and choose “Not sure”. We check it with you before anything else.

How it works

Four steps to a foreign publisher.

01
Tell us about your book

A five-minute form. Greek is fine.

02
We prepare it in English

Synopsis, author bio, a one-page pitch and 10 translated pages.

03
We present it

On ForeignRights.eu and, with the Catalogue package, at Frankfurt, London and Bologna.

04
A publisher is interested

Our literary agency negotiates the deal and follows up on your royalties.

Where to start

Most authors start with the Author Rights Kit.

Publishers abroad cannot read Greek. The kit gives your book everything it needs to be considered. Then choose how widely to show it.

Literary representation

Looking for an agent?

Our literary agency selects books it believes can sell abroad and represents them in full. Representation requires one of our packages, from €190, plus 19% of the advance and 1% of royalties each year, on every deal, Greek or foreign. Only when a deal closes.

We read your book first. If we take it on, you choose any of our packages, from the Author Rights Kit (€190). We never take payment before we have said yes.

Questions authors ask

Good to know

Do I need to speak English?

No. You can write to us and fill in the form in Greek. We take care of the English.

Will my book definitely be sold abroad?

No one can promise that. We promise that your book is presented properly to verified publishers, and we tell you after each fair who saw it.

Who keeps the rights?

You do. We only help you sell them, and nothing is signed without your approval.

How much does a foreign publisher pay?

It varies by country and book: usually an advance plus royalties on every copy sold. We explain each offer to you before you decide.

Your next reader may not speak Greek.
